1. Headhunter Longhouse Theme Party

An honour guard of chanting warriors escorts you from your resort hotel to the nearby Iban longhouse. At the top of the longhouse steps, young women wearing their finest jewellery and sparkling silver head-dresses welcome everyone with a glass of tuak, the potent Iban rice wine. Once everyone is seated on beautifully woven rush mats, the longhouse chief performs the Miring, the traditional Iban welcoming ritual.

Dinner is then served in traditional Iban style, accompanied by lively dance performances and games of skill and strength, in which guests are also invited to participate. After dinner, it's time for the traditional "longhouse disco", with festive dancing to the melody of ancient gongs and the pounding rhythm of skin drums. Guests are invited to learn the popular joget and dangdut dance styles, accompanied by modern Iban pop music, and all the while the rice wine continues to flow, along with cold beer for thirsty dancers.

Paddle your way between towering rainforest giants and bizarre rock formations along a crystal clear jungle stream. The pace is leisurely, the atmosphere is intimate, and the experienced guides and the comfortable, easy-to-paddle kayaks ensure that your journey is both relaxing and completely safe, even for beginners. Alternatively, discover the fascinating coastline of the South China Sea, paddling amongst colourful local fishing boats in search of the shy and gentle Irrawaddy dolphin, the amazing proboscis monkey, and other unique denizens of the estuaries and mangroves. Once again, the experienced guides and the comfortable, easy-to-paddle kayaks ensure that your outing is both relaxing and completely safe, even for beginners, although this is not suitable for non-swimmers. The moderate exercise builds up a healthy appetite for a delightful picnic lunch at a secluded beach, or a festive seafood dinner at a waterside restaurant. Perfect for groups of up to 10 people.

3. Cocktails in the Caves

Discover the magnificent rugged beauty of Sarawak's spectacular limestone cave systems. World Heritage listed Mulu National Park features the massive Deer Cave, the largest natural cave in the world, the Clearwater Cave where a rushing underground river emerges into a secluded bathing pool, and the exquisite rock formations of the King's Chamber in the Wind Cave. Niah Caves National Park near Miri is the site of the oldest human settlement in Southeast Asia (40,000 years ago), and features the world's largest cave entrance and ancient rock paintings, as well as birds nest collectors scaling flimsy bamboo scaffolds to collect this sought-after Chinese delicacy. For a shorter trip from Kuching, the Wind and Fairy Caves near Bau offer beautiful rock formations and fascinating religious artefacts.

Guests can enter some of these caves by torchlight, which subtly illuminates the beautiful cave formations, before settling down to a subterranean cocktail. Entertainment is provided by local performers playing traditional instruments, such as the haunting lute-like sape.

4. The Rhythms of the Rainforest

Even your top performers - the incentive guests who've been everywhere and done everything - will be blown away by the sights and sounds of the unique and critically acclaimed Rainforest World Music Festival. Set against a natural rainforest backdrop on the slopes of Mount Santubong, and illuminated by the dazzling floodlit rainforest canopy, the outdoor stage comes alive with three days of virtuoso music from every continent. The audience dances and sings along as flying squirrels perform their graceful aerobatics to the rhythms of the world. Your group can select a secluded dining area in one of the traditional longhouses of the Sarawak Cultural village, or a private marquee on the lawn. World-class visiting musicians can play exclusively for your group during dinner, or conduct a special interactive workshop with your guests.

The Rainforest World Music Festival is held on the second weekend of July every year.

5. The White Rajah Theme Party

The term "White Rajahs" refers to the Brookes, an English dynasty who founded and ruled the Kingdom of Sarawak from 1841 to 1946. The White Rajah Theme Party will amaze your guests with the remarkable and sometimes bizarre history of the White Rajahs, and let them experience the pomp and splendour of that bygone era.

Dinner is served al-fresco in the grounds of one of Kuching's historic Brooke-era buildings, complete with brass band and martial arts performances. The lush lawns and gardens are perfect for socialising before taking to the dance floor for the rest of the evening. Wear something white, bring your dance card to be filled in, and step back in time to an era of grace and elegance, when the three Rajahs' party guests included such luminaries as naturalist Sir Alfred Russel Wallace, novelist W. Somerset Maugham, and matinee idol Errol Flynn.

6. The Sarawak Regatta - Racing Sarawak Style

According to historical records, the first Regatta took place in Kuching in 1871. Communities from all over the state took part, determined to show their war-boats and crews were the fastest and the best. The Regatta became the most important event on the social and sporting calendar, right up until modern times. Competition was always fierce, as reflected in the bombastic names given to many of the competing boats, but the Regatta was the one event where people could mix together and let off steam peacefully. Therefore it played an important role in the ending of inter-ethnic rivalry and warfare, and helped to make Sarawak the harmonious place it is today.

Overseas participants are very welcome to send teams to compete in the Sarawak Regatta. Whether you are representing your club, country, corporation or simply a group of adventure-loving friends, you are sure to have fun being cheered on by the locals thronging the Kuching Waterfront. 20 paddlers are required for each longboat.

The Sarawak Regatta is held at the beginning of September each year.

7. Cook Up a Storm

A great team building activity that also develops your culinary skills and gives you an insight into local culture. Your group is divided into 2 or 3 teams, each responsible for a famous local dish such as Ayam Pansoh (chicken in bamboo) or the legendary Sarawak Laksa. First your teams are given a shopping list to purchase the necessary ingredients from the colourful wet market, where they will encounter hundreds of stalls selling jungle produce, herbs, spices, fresh fish and seafood, meat, poultry, local fruits, cakes and desserts. Bargaining with the friendly stall holders is just part of the fun.

To assist in selecting the right spices for your dish you will visit a local pepper farm, before heading back to the hotel for the cook-off. Before you start cooking, a local Iban, Bidayuh or Orang Ulu chef will give you a VIP culinary master class, guiding you expertly through the preparation and cooking of your allocated dish. After the cook-off comes the best part - the taste testing! Each participant will receive a beautiful certificate with your company logo, a souvenir gift and a recipe booklet. An unforgettable way to enjoy Sarawak's number one obsession - good food!
